Our kidneys are very important organs. With their help, our body releases many harmful substances and toxins. In order to preserve the health of our kidneys, we should keep an eye on the daily habits that are destroying them. Sometimes, quite often, we damage them unconsciously.
Kidneys, through nephrons, every 45 minutes filtered up to five liters of water contained in our blood. Thus this, they can throw up to two liters of harmful substances in the form of urine over a one day period. In order to preserve the health of our kidneys and the entire organism note the following things and correct or change the following habits:
Not enough water
If you do not drink enough water, this can be one of the most important factors of kidney damage. The main task of the kidney is excrete wastes from the body and regulate the electrolyte balance. If the body is not properly hydrated, it reduces the flow of blood, resulting in the accumulation of toxins in the blood.
Many of us tend to put off going to the bathroom. If your bladder is filled with urine for a long time, can lead to various complications and problems in the urinary tract. Muscle hypertrophy is one of the complications that can lead to diverticulitis. Hydronephrosis also (increased pressure of urine in the kidneys) is another complication that occurs due to chronic pressure on the back of the kidney. Incontinence is also one of the serious consequence of long delays for emptying of the bladder.
The negative impact of tobacco on the lungs and heart is already known, but research has shown that smokers have protein in the urine, a sign of kidney damage. Also, smoking double the number of endothelial cells present in blood.
Long-term usage of painkillers
Taking painkillers for minor interference is bad habit for most people.Many painkillers have dangerous side effects accompanying, can damage various organs, including the kidneys. Prolonged use of painkillers, especially in larger amounts can lead to kidney damage. Studies have shown that prolonged use of painkillers reduced blood flow and thus it reduce kidney function. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs used to treat pain and fever and high blood pressure drugs are the ones which need to be taken with caution.
Coffee, juices, sodas and especially energy drinks contain caffeine, which can raise the pressure which affects the kidneys and this way can damage them. When is comes to one of our favorite drinks, coffee, two to three cups of coffee per day is allowed, it will not endanger the kidneys, but keep in mind to lower consumption of sodas or at least, do not overdo.
Excessive amounts of alcohol, among leading to cirrhosis and other things, can also damage the kidneys. Alcohol contains certain toxins which can be harmful for kidneys.
Processing of sodium is another task performed by the kidneys. Salt is the main source of sodium. Majority of sodium need be extracted from the body, so, if our kidneys are heavily burdened with salt, they must extract a large amount of sodium, which is the long term may be hard for the kidneys.
Too much sugar leads to lot of health problems, such as diabetes and obesity, which are one of the factors for kidney disease. Reduce the intake of sugar in the body and that way you will reduce your risk of these diseases. Less refined sugar means fewer calories, chemicals and salt.
