The main role of the kidneys is to filter waste products from the blood and excess fluid from our body. These waste and excess fluid are removed through the urine.
Some of the functions which are performed by our kidneys:
- Removing waste products from our body
- Acid regulation
- Balance the body’s fluids
- Release hormones that regulate blood pressure
- Produce an active form of vitamin D that promotes strong, healthy bones
- Control the production of red blood cells
Our kidneys play important roles in the body function, not just by filtering the blood and getting rid of waste products via urine, but also by balancing the electrolyte levels in our body, controlling the blood pressure and stimulating the production of red blood cells.
Kidneys are located in the abdomen toward the back. People have two kidneys, one on each side of the spine. They get the blood supply through the renal arteries, directly from the aorta and they send it back to the heart through the renal veins.
People can not live without kidneys, if it comes to kidneys failure, dialysis or kidney transplant is necessary.
Some of the symptoms of kidney failure are:
- Lethargy (Lack of energy and enthusiasm)
- Itching of the skin
- Loss of appetite
- Muscle cramps
- Metabolic acidosis
- Hyperkalemia (High Blood Potassium)
Early detection and treatment of kidney disease are important to keep kidney disease from progressing to kidney failure. This is usually done by doctor with simple tests of blood and urine (ACR-albumin-to-creatinine ratio).
Here are some additional early signs or symptoms which may be linked to kidney failure, symptoms which are important to know, symptoms that will send you to doctor for further tests and that way prevent the damage on time.
If Your Kidney Is In Danger The Body Will Give You These Signs
Trouble while urinating, Feel of pressure during the urination process, less frequent urinating that usual, pale colour or foamy urine are some of the early signs to kidney failure which can be seen via urine changes.
If your joints or face start to swell it may point to early stage of kidneys failure. Due their inability to perform their job correctly, swelling may start to appear due to excessive fluids.
Shortness of breath
This can be point to many different problems, but also is a common problem linked with kidney damage. Due to low number of red blood cells, our body does not have enough oxygen.
Besides pregnancy and food allergies, or Alzheimer’s disease (in rare cases), metallic taste in mouth is also linked with kidney failure. Due to bigger accumulation of waste in the blood, taste and breath start to change.
Bad Concentration or Dizziness
Again, due to oxygen flow, this time flow to the brain, bad concentration or dizziness is very likely to occur.
Although, this symptoms and signs may be common for many different conditions, for sure they can be pointers for early signs of kidneys failure. Don’t hesitate to seek medical assistance and opinion. Consult with your doctor if you have some of them, especially if you have them for long period.
