Many people who are trying to reduce weight and to have leaner body, accept a challenge, to spend the day with lot less calories than they used to ate before.
Many people with desire to lose weight choose 1200 calories diet regime, a diet for which they are many discussions online. For many people this diet is good and bring them results they wanted, but on other side, many people had negative effects and bad experience with this sudden calories cut.
So, is this kind of diet, this eating approach healthy and will people have certain consequences with consummation of only 1200 calories a day?
Spokesperson for the British Dietetic Association, nutrition expert and dietitian consultant, Ursula Philpot has warned against this approach to eating.
She says: ”Although 1200 is the minimum level of calories that the average person need to survive, without his body to go into starvation mode of course, that does not mean that this diet, this food approach it is healthy”, according to ‘The Independent’.
For example, an older person who is not physically active or an overweight person who also is inactive, can be able to eat 1000 – 1200 a day and to survive without their body goes into starvation mode, but, their meals should be carefully planned, because, it’s pretty much difficult to get all nutrients that the body needs with a such a strict diet regime.
Keep in mind that on a 1200 calorie diet, body need to make adjustments. If you are young plus if you are active, you can’t live proper on regime like that. You may lose weight easily with time, but your body will make certain metabolic adjustments.
Your hands and feet might get cold more than usual and you will be obsessed with food for a lot of the time during the day, for which, you should be physically ready. Also, you probably won’t feel well overall and would feel anxious.
“This sudden cut in calorie for some women it could temporarily shut down their fertility.”
One diet doesn’t fit all, same like one shoe size doesn’t fit all. If certain diet, including 1200 calories regime works fine for some people, for some will not work. The food that individuals need to eat also differs. An active person should eat fat and carbohydrates, because his body need energy and on the other side, someone who is overweight or older and inactive, may be able to lose weight with a low carb diet but high in protein.
How much a certain person should eat, mostly depends on many factors including age, activity level and of course genetics so, although it may be safe, if you decide to go on 1200 calories diet regime, consult with your doctor or nutritionist first.
