This garlic, grown in inhibitors, is stored at very low temperatures and also is over storage. This chinese garlic also is full with methyl bromide (bromomethane) which is used to kill and get rid of bugs. But this organobromine compound, this pesticide, in high concentrations can cause many negative effects on humans health. It can damage central nervous system and may cause damage to respiratory system also. Chinese garlic is also contaminated with other unhealthy substances, such as lead and sulfates.
Difference between California grown garlic and this Chinese can be easily spotted. First, California garlic is heavier in weight, also, California grown garlic, has roots on the bottom of the bulb and of course, is more flavorful.
Advice when it comes to buying garlic is same as for buying anything else: Buy from trusted markets or trusted organic store.
