Healthy Low-Carb Cauliflower Pizza Crust Recipe

Healthy food can be very tasty, it just takes a little imagination. Cauliflower is one of the foods that can serve as a great substitute to flour, potatoes and other foods that are full with carbohydrates.

Healthy Low-Carb Cauliflower Pizza Crust Recipe

Cauliflower is a vegetable that does not contain fat and sodium. Regular consumption of cauliflower can reduce the risk of developing cancer. These vegetable contain vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 and B9, minerals and beneficial phytochemicals. Cauliflower is a good source of fiber, protein, phosphorus, potassium and has a high content of vitamin C. Cauliflower also contains potassium, a mineral that is very important for the development of bones and muscles. In addition, in this vegetable you can find isothiocyanates, which prevent the development of cancer cells.

Regular consumption of cauliflower prevents damage to the body caused by free radicals as it contains powerful antioxidants. Cauliflower prevents cardiovascular disease. Cauliflower has a lot of vitamin C and omega-3 fatty acids, which reduce inflammation. Regular consumption of this vegetable reduces the risk of arthritis, obesity, diabetes etc. Cauliflower can reduce inflammation and protect the health of blood vessels. Also, this healthy vegetable has a positive effect on circulation. This food contains glucosinolates that trigger a natural body detoxification. In addition, the combination of selenium and vitamins C strengthens the immune system and maintain the level of cholesterol in the blood.

Cauliflower  it’s low in calories and carbohydrates and is excellent addition to any healthy meal plan, including diabetic and low-carb diets. They are about 5 g. carbs in 1 cup of cauliflower  and 2 of those grams are from fiber. This is ideal for maintaining a healthy body weight and controlling your blood cholesterol level.

Now, when you know how healthy vegetable cauliflower is, we assume you will consume it more often. In addition to this article, we bring you one healthy pizza crust recipe.

You will need:

  • 1 Cauliflower,
  • Parmesan cheese (finely grated),
  • 1 Egg,
  • 1 Tbsp Oregano,
  • 1 Tbsp Basil,
  • 1 Tbsp Garlic powder,
  • 1/2 Tbsp Salt,
  • 1/2 Cayenne.

Toppings (optional):

  • Pizza sauce,
  • Pepperoni,
  • Fresh mozzarella cheese.

Preparation:

First, remove the leaves from the cauliflower. Cut around the underside of the head removing the core. Detach the florets and cook them in water for about 5 minutes. After let them cool and then, ground them in food processor or blender, just make sure is very finely ground. When you are done, transfer it into napkin and squeeze all the water out. When done, transfer it into a bowl and add 1 egg, bit of finely grated parmesan cheese and the rest of ingredients (Oregano, Basil, Garlic powder, Salt and Cayenne). Mix everything well and make a dough from it, something which looks like bread dough. When all is done, put it on baking paper (use parchment paper to avoid sticking). Place plastic on top, and press until you get nice looking round shape, approximately quarter inch thick.

Bake your cauliflower pizza in preheated oven on 200 celsius degrees (400 fahrenheit) for 25-30 minutes, until it gets golden brown color. When is done, let it cool and you are ready to build your pizza, same as regular pizza. Put sauce first all around, add pepperoni and fresh mozzarella cheese and you can add finely grated parmesan cheese at the end. Bake again in preheated oven on 250 celsius degrees for 10 minutes and your Cauliflower Pizza is ready.

You can built your Cauliflower Pizza Crust as you want, add your desired toppings. The ones who count calories, remove the cheese and add mushrooms and vegetables instead.
