Dry and cracked feet and heels are one of the common problems that many people encounter, especially during summer. In addition to the ugly and unattractive look, cracked heels can be very painful too.
In most stores you will find many different products that promise to solve this problem, but very often we only get disappointments, plus, the search for the right product may cost us too much money, because to be honest, those products are not cheap.
During the hot months of the year, cracked heels are very common. The reason most lies in the choice of footwear we carry, which cause drying and darkening of the soles. Though there are many products on the market for feet care and hydration of this part of the body, you can treat and nourish your feet efficiently and without much money at your own home, using products from your kitchen and bathroom.
To get rid of this problem, try one of the following home remedies. They are cheap and what is most important, they are 100 percent natural.
Home Remedies For Dry And Cracked Feet And Heels
Olive Oil
To effectively solve the problem with dry skin on the heels, which is one of the main reasons why they crack, do the following:
- Wash and dry your feet, apply the oil to the cracked heels and rub it well. Massage about 10-15 minutes.
- Put on a pair of thick wool socks and sleep in them.
- Wash your feet with warm water the next day.
- Repeat the procedure every second day.
Honey
Honey is excellent for skin hydration. To get rid of cracked feet and heels, do the following:
- Mix 200 grams of honey with 2 liters of warm water (in some plastic bowl).
- Soak your feet in the water for about 20-30 minutes.
- When done, rub them well, rinse and dry them well.
- Apply hydrating cream.
- Repeat the procedure twice a week.
Banana and Avocado
You can make a very efficient, hydrating mask for your feet using a banana and avocado. You will need one banana and ½ avocado.
- Put them both in a blender and blend them well.
- Apply the mixture to the soles of your feet for 20-25 minutes.
- Wash your legs with warm water, dry them and apply hydrating foot cream.
- Repeat the procedure every other day.
Vaseline and Lemon Juice
Soak your feet in a warm water for 20 minutes. After drying, apply vaseline and lemon juice mixture:
- In small plastic bowl mix 1 tbsp vaseline with one tbsp lemon juice.
- Massage the mixture into your feet or soles until it is completely absorbed.
- Put on thick socks to keep the heat of the feet and increase the efficiency of the treatment.
- Wash your feet with warm water after few hours or the next day if the treatment is done before bedtime (which is recommended).
- Repeat the procedure every other day.
Before each of these treatments you can soak your feet in a mixture of warm water and salt. Warm salty water is a great for treating cracked heels. Just add few tbsp salt in a warm water and stir well. Put your feet inside and sit for 15 minutes.
